What Does it take to be 1 in 100+?
Each member agrees to donate $100, four times per year, for a total donation of $400 annually, which will be given directly to local charities, non-profits and organizations serving the Kingston area.
Nominating a charity
Any member who has registered may nominate an organization. At our meetings, we will randomly draw three nominated charities. The nominating members of these three randomly selected organizations will make a five minute presentation about the organization to the group. Should the nominating member wish, she may ask another member to present about the charity on her behalf.
Organizations under consideration must serve Kingston and surrounding area, be in existence for at least one year, and be a registered charity. They must also agree to provide individual tax receipts, to keep member information confidential, and not to use the donated funds for administrative costs. |
VOTING
Each registered member will vote (by ballot) for one of the three organizations during her attendance at the quarterly meetings. There is no proxy voting. Ties will be decided by further votes. If a tie persists, the membership will vote to either (1) randomly select one of the tied organizations by draw; or (2) divide the group donation equally between the tied organizations.

Donation
Each member will write a cheque for $100 to the organization receiving the most votes. The selected organization will receive a group donation of over $10,000. Members will receive a tax receipt directly from the organization after they've donated.
Members who are unable to attend a meeting are expected to send their cheque with a trusted member or mail it (courier suggested) or drop it off to Life Yoga, 6-235 Gore Road, Kingston, ON, K7L 0C3 or Align Physiotherapy, 920 Princess Street, Kingston, ON, K7L 1H1 or Investor's Group, 100-2020 Gardiners Road, Kingston, ON, K7P 3C4. Members can also leave her cheque (24 hours per day) in the drop box located at Collins Blay Chartered Professional Accountants at 27 Princess Street (in the Smith Robinson building). The drop box is located adjacent to the King/Queen parking lot on the north east side of the building. |
Future meetings
An organization not selected at one meeting will remain in the draw for a subsequent meeting if the nominating member has requested it redrawn when completing the charity nomination form. A successful organization who receives our group nomination is not eligible for future consideration for five (5) years, but the nominating member may submit the name of another organization.
The recipient of funds from the prior meeting will give a five minute update on how the funds donated at the previous meeting were used by the successful organization. |
